Radiant Barrier & Insulation

We use one of two ways to properly install radiant barrier foil to ensure your home temperature is maintained. We either staple the material to the bottom of the rafters or lay it out on top of the existing attic insulation. In warmer climates, either method is ok. In colder or mixed climates, laying radiant barrier over the current insulation is recommended.

Tax Credit Available Click here for more info.
Customers can now receive a tax credit of 30% of the cost of material up to a $1,500 total credit. Must be placed into service during 2009 or 2010 in the homeowner's primary residence. Installation costs are not covered. Submit IRS FORM 5695 with your taxes. Keep a copy of the Manufacturer's Certification Statement for your records. Please contact us for more info.

Heat from the attic space can cause an extraordinary amount of heat gain in the Summer. The radiant heat from the sun is absorbed by roofing shingles and transferred to the roof decking below and into the attic space. Conventional insulation absorbs much of this heat and once its saturation point has been met, this heat is then transferred to the living spaces below.

Radiant barrier can block 97% of radiant heat from the roofing surface and lower the attic temperature closer to the true outdoor temperature. By lowering the attic temperature, you will save money on air conditioning and home will be more comfortable.
